1. Upload the image
Log in to your Digital Ocean account and navigate to Images > Custom Images
You may use Import via URL option and type this URL: https://update.codacloud.net/is/vm/IS-Full.vmdk
Make sure to pick Ubuntu as a distribution and choose your preferred datacenter/region.
Wait for the Image to upload. Note that sometimes the image will stay in Pending for some time.
Once the Custom Image is uploaded navigate to the More button and choose Start a Droplet. This will create a VM out of the image and this will be our Internal Scanner.
Pick a size for your VM, the minimal requirements are 2vCPU 4 GB RAM and 100GB of disk. This means that the Basic Shared CPU should do the trick. If you need to scan more than one /22 subnet you should consider adding more resources. For this example we have chosen the option with 160GB of disk.
This is an internal scanner so make sure to select the correct VPC network in order to be in the same subnet or be routed to the target subnet of the machines that you intend to scan using this host.
All the configuration is done so you may now proceed with Create Droplet.
Once the droplet is ready please take not of itβs Public IP
Browse to the public IP of the droplet on port 8080 with protocol HTTP.
Ex: http://<public_ip_address>:8080
Once connected make sure to pick a name for the scanner, add the console URL/FQDN and TOKEN. You can find those in your Footprint Console in Agentless Scan Surface > Setup Scanners
Once everything is setup the Internal Scanner should appear as Active in your Agentless Scan Surface > Deployed Scanners.
You can now start scanning!
